Four police complaints were made against the perpetrators at the Bhondsi and three at the Farrukhnagar police stations. Over the last few months, authorities have discovered unlawful colonies spanning two to eight acres in Bhondsi, Farrukhnagar, and Ghamroj.

On Monday, the department of town and country planning (DTCP) wrote to Gurgaon police, requesting that an FIR be filed against 31 criminals accused of erecting seven illegal colonies on 30-acre plots of land in and around the city.

Four police complaints were made against the perpetrators at the Bhondsi and three at the Farrukhnagar police stations. In the last few months, authorities have discovered unlawful colonies spanning two to eight acres in Bhondsi, Farrukhnagar, and Ghamroj.

The culprits developed around 11.5 acres in Bhondsi into three unlawful communities. The colonies were grown on areas ranging in size from 1.5 to 6 acres.

The perpetrators carved themselves three unlawful colonies on about 12.5 acres of agricultural property in Farrukhnagar. The department has written to the Farrukhnagar police station requesting that an FIR be filed against 17 individuals. Similarly, five offenders in Ghamroj had carved out an unlawful colony on six acres.

According to the DTCP, the land is within the Gurgaon Urban Area Limit. “Section 3 of Act No. 8 of 1975 mandates that a landowner obtain a license from the competent authority for carving out a colony within about an Urban Area. Section 7 I of the Act of 1975 bans subdividing land with the goal of carving out a colony. The complaint states that “section 7 (ii) bans construction in a colony for which a license under section 3 of the Act of 1975 has not been issued.”

District town planner (enforcement) RS Batth said, “The offenders have violated the norms by sub-dividing land for the aim of the colony. The offenders are deliberately continuing with the contravention of the provision of Act of 1975 and rules.”
