During the last property tax assessment survey, a private agency hired by the MCG selected a total of 183 buildings as unsafe or dangerous structures.

The MCG has designated more than 80 buildings in the city as unsafe constructions.

According to officials, the city council has sent letters to the buildings’ owners, requesting that they either demolish the structures or make structural adjustments to make them safe.

The Haryana Human Rights Commission has also received a report on the matter (HHRC). The majority of these dangerous structures are located in the old Gurgaon.

During the last property tax survey that was conducted, a private agency hired by the MCG reported a total of 183 buildings as unsafe or dangerous structures.

MCG’s executive engineers analyzed 152 of them, finding 72 to be safe and 80 to be harmful. Officials told that the executive engineers will review the remaining 31 buildings by the end of the month.

“We have issued letters to the landlords of these 80 buildings and filed a report on the risky buildings in the city to HHRC on January 5 this year,” MCG’s superintending engineer Vivek Gill said. We’ve given them time to answer, following which we’ll begin sealing these structures because they’re not safe to live in.”

Executive engineers have been given specific instructions to identify such buildings and take action in accordance with the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994, according to senior MCG officials.
