At a recent authority session, all of the schemes were accepted, and the metropolitan authority is now seeking public input on these.
For the current financial cycle, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has considered 4 smart city projects worth INR 69 cr.
Smart water management, phase two of CCTV-based public safety, and adaptive traffic management throughout the city for the implementation of an adaptive traffic light control system as well as connectivity at bus stops and government buildings through an optical fiber network are among the initiatives. The projects will cost Rs 19 crore, Rs 30 crore, Rs 10 crore, and Rs 10 crore.
At a recent authority meeting, all of the projects were accepted, and the metropolitan authority is now seeking public input on them.
“The four projects’ specifics have been posted on the website. “Anyone who wants to make a suggestion has one month to do so,” said a senior GMDA official.
The smart water management project, according to the official, is aimed at quality measured safe and clean drinking water to the residents.
“A centralized control system with a network around the city will be set up as part of the system. Readings from various control and measurement systems installed in the city network would be moved online to a central monitoring facility at the Integrated Control and Command Centre (ICCC),” he explained.
The CCTV project, on the other hand, is in its second phase, with over 1,000 cameras already mounted by GMDA. By the end of June, phase one of the project would have installed 1,200 CCTV cameras at 222 intersections.
The second phase, which will cover the remaining 138 locations and install about 800 CCTV cameras between 2021 and 2022, will be based on the performance of phase one, according to the official.
“The adaptive traffic light control system will not only help reduce waiting times at traffic intersections, but it will also ensure that drivers can cross the intersection in a single red light and avoid having to wait for longer periods of time,” he said.
Within the GMDA Region, the fourth work involves providing convergence on the compact optical fiber network at bus stops, government buildings, and other important locations.
