In a significant development, Gurgaon member of Parliament Rao Inderjit Singh recently held a meeting with Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari to discuss and disclose the forthcoming plans for the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to hire a consultant in the following two months for the proposed elevated road that will stretch from Dhaula Kuan to Manesar. This vital project has been the subject of extensive deliberations over the past two years, aimed at easing traffic congestion and enhancing transportation efficiency in the region.
Elevated Road Between Hero Honda Chowk and Umang Bhardwaj Chowk
During the meeting, MP Rao Inderjit Singh conveyed that the highways authority will soon initiate the tender process for an elevated road between Hero Honda Chowk and Umang Bhardwaj Chowk. This move aligns with the broader endeavor to alleviate traffic challenges in Gurugram. A host of other decongestion projects for the city was also brought to the table and discussed with Minister Gadkari during the meeting.
Innovative Design and Construction
The proposed elevated road between Dhaula Kuan and Manesar will be built above the existing Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, facilitating smooth traffic flow. Notably, this new road will cater exclusively to light vehicles. In view of this project, directions have been issued to officials to promptly engage a consultant within the stipulated two-month timeframe. The road will be constructed in two layers, promising enhanced connectivity and transit options for commuters.
Progress on Elevated Road Considerations
The idea of an elevated road on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway has been actively considered by the Union transport ministry for the past two years. In April of this year, Minister Gadkari officially confirmed the project’s consideration and the ongoing discussions surrounding various aspects.
Addressing Challenges and Delays
To address any potential challenges and delays in the construction process, MP Rao Inderjit Singh informed that the Union transport minister has directed a joint meeting involving NHAI and Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) under his chairmanship. This strategic meeting aims to swiftly remove hurdles and resolve issues related to the road’s construction. Notably, discussions will encompass the relocation of public utilities along the designated stretch and coordination with the Metro and GMDA concerning the size of pillars required for the elevated road.
Flyovers and Underpasses on Delhi-Jaipur Highway
During the meeting, Gurugram MP raised the pressing matter of building flyovers and underpasses on the Delhi-Jaipur highway. Consequently, directives were issued to commence the construction of a flyover in Manesar, following the removal of encroachments on both sides of the highway. Moreover, the work on the Bilaspur flyover is scheduled to begin after August 1, and tenders will soon be floated for constructing underpasses at Rathiwas Chowk, Pachgaon Chowk, and Assalwas Chowk.
Prompt Completion of Foot Over Bridges
In response to the issue of foot over bridges on the national highway, the transport minister has directed officials to expedite the completion of these structures to ensure enhanced pedestrian safety and convenience.
By taking these crucial steps and advancing these ambitious projects, the authorities are determined to tackle traffic congestion and enhance the overall transportation network in the region.
