The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has kicked off the construction of new Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) to address the increasing pressure on STPs and sewer lines due to the rapidly growing population. 

The overflow in sewer lines has been causing issues in residential areas. The construction of six new STPs is underway, promising relief from these problems.

In Cyber City, there’s hope for the coming year, 2024, as new Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) are expected to be ready. The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has initiated the construction of these STPs to enhance the city’s infrastructure.

Rapid population growth is putting increasing pressure on sewage treatment plants (STPs) and sewer lines. Overflow in sewer lines is causing trouble in residential areas.

To address this, construction has begun on six new STPs, aiming to alleviate these concerns.

At present, Gurugram has six Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) with a combined capacity of 408 million liters per day (MLD). 

There’s a 170 MLD capacity plant in Baharampur, and Dhankot has an STP with a capacity of 218 MLD. Additionally, there’s a 20 MLD capacity Sewage Treatment Plant in Jhajjar.

All the major Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) in Gurugram fall under the jurisdiction of GMDA. These plants are designed to purify sewage water, and their monitoring is conducted from the control center at the GMDA office, using flow meters. 

GMDA has extended its primary sewer lines to cover most sectors in the city. The newly developed societies in Gurugram are also being connected to the sewer network.

The capacity of the Baharampur and Dhankot Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) is set to increase

A new 100 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) is set to become operational in Baharampur by the end of 2024. Following this addition, the total capacity of the Baharampur STP will reach 270 MLD.

 In Dhankot, there is an existing STP with a capacity of 218 MLD. With the installation of an additional 100 MLD STP, the total capacity in Dhankot will increase to 318 MLD.

A 25 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) is under construction in Manesar, with 60% of the work already completed. In Sector 7, Daulatabad village, a 350 MLD STP is planned. 

The first phase will see the construction of a 100 MLD STP. Additionally, a new 40 MLD capacity STP is set to be built in Manesar. Another 2 MLD STPs are in the works for Bajghera.
