In a significant move aimed at regularizing unauthorized colonies with the vision of providing essential amenities for institutional urban development and citizens in Haryana, Chief Minister Manohar Lal once again announced the regularization of 210 unauthorized colonies across 13 districts today.

This includes 103 colonies from the Department of Urban and Rural Planning and 107 colonies from the Urban Local Bodies Department.

While addressing the press conference, the Chief Minister stated that the state government has set the final deadline of January 31, 2024, to complete the notification process for all 2,274 irregular colonies in the state.

Basic amenities such as roads, sewage, water supply, and streetlights will be provided to the residents of these colonies. An additional provision of 3,000 crores has been allocated separately for the development of such colonies to facilitate infrastructure improvements.

He mentioned that during the 10-year tenure of the Congress government, they regularized 874 unauthorized colonies. In contrast, our administration has already regularized a total of 1673 colonies.

With the addition of today’s announcement of 210 colonies, a cumulative total of 1883 colonies will now be brought under the regularization process.

He explained that a team, led by the District Magistrate and District Urban Commissioner, oversees the regularization of colonies at the district level.

To keep a check on the growing number of unauthorized colonies, regular surveys will be conducted using drones or satellite imagery. 

He emphasized that strict action will be taken if any unauthorized colonies are developed henceforth, and changes have been made in the licensing process for this purpose.

The state government has also introduced the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Housing Scheme to provide affordable housing options. The government’s goal is to encourage people to build their homes in regularized colonies.
