In areas around Delhi-NCR, the crackdown on illegal construction is getting tougher. More than 300 houses in builder colonies of Gurugram have been revealed to have unauthorized constructions. Now, there’s a possibility that these houses might be sealed.
More than 300 houses in Gurugram’s builder colonies have been caught with unauthorized constructions. Now, there’s a chance these houses might be sealed. The District Town Planning Department conducted surveys from May to November in many colonies, revealing illegal constructions.
After obtaining occupancy certificates for these houses, construction against the rules took place. The department had issued notices to demolish such constructions, but since the notices didn’t have the desired effect, these houses may now face sealing.

A survey was conducted in these colonies
As per the Town Planning Department, they recently conducted surveys in more than half a dozen builder colonies. This includes DLF-2, Sushant Lok-1, 2, and South City-1, 2 colonies. The survey report revealed that after obtaining occupancy certificates for the houses, unauthorized constructions were happening with impunity.
Illegal constructions in stilts parking, filling up cutouts left in the building, unauthorized constructions in the designated joining areas, and the construction of iron grilles are causing concerns. Complaints about these unauthorized constructions in these colonies have also been raised with the CM’s window.
Homeowners have violated the rules of occupancy certificate regulations. This pertains to the violation of Haryana Building Code rules in the construction of houses in residential colonies.
Nine houses have already been sealed before
On Thursday, the department sealed nine houses in another campaign in Sushant Lok and Malibu Town colonies. In one house, illegal construction and unauthorized activities were happening in the basement after obtaining an occupancy certificate. Similarly, in eight other houses, 21 floors with illegal constructions were also sealed following the same pattern.
Action could be taken starting today
After obtaining occupancy certificates, people are continuously carrying out unauthorized constructions in their houses, according to the Town Planning Department. Despite issuing notices explaining the reasons, orders to demolish the constructions were given, but with no impact.
Therefore, starting Tuesday, the department will initiate a sealing campaign in response. During this period, action will be taken in these areas.
“Manish Yadav, the head of Town Planning in Gurugram, stated that in the recent survey conducted in builder colonies, more than 300 houses were found with unauthorized constructions. This is a clear violation of building plan regulations.
Despite issuing notices, the unauthorized constructions have not stopped. Now, a sealing campaign will be initiated in these areas to take necessary action.”
