Khattar’s idea for the Vatika Chowk underpass got delayed: The underpass at Vatika Chowk that we’ve been eagerly waiting for will take a bit more time to open. They were planning to open it on Friday, but now they’ve changed the date. The reason is that the chief minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, had to reschedule his visit.
They decided to delay the opening because on the same day, the Chief Minister and the Union Railways Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, had an important event for the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor, which is a big project worth Rs 5,500 crore. So, they had to shift their focus to that event.
Surprisingly, even the big railway project got delayed because the Railways Minister couldn’t make it. The local authorities also confirmed that the Vatika Chowk underpass opening had to be delayed for some unavoidable reasons. The chief minister’s visit has been rescheduled, and they’ll pick a new date for the opening soon, according to the deputy commissioner, Nishant Yadav.

The Vatika Chowk underpass, which cost Rs 109 crore and was constructed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), is designed to make it easier for people to travel between Golf Course Road (Extension) and NH-8. It’s meant to reduce the traffic jams at that busy intersection.
NHAI mentioned that they haven’t set a new date for the opening yet. They’ve finished all the work on the underpass and are ready for the inauguration.
However, even though they know about the delay in the ceremony, they haven’t received any instructions from the local authorities to allow the public to use the underpass for a trial run.
Local residents are not happy about the delay in opening the underpass. They feel it’s unfortunate because the underpass is ready to use.
They think the government should focus on making travel easier for people instead of waiting for a ceremony that’s just for taking photos.
They believe that any local official could do the inauguration, and the Chief Minister’s presence shouldn’t be necessary for such a small project, according to TC Malhotra, a resident of Sector 70A.
The underpass was supposed to be a part of a plan by GMDA to make SPR (Southern Peripheral Road) from Ghata to NH-8 a smooth and traffic signal-free route with the help of the Sohna elevated road.
Originally, GMDA was going to handle it, but they changed their mind and gave the job to NHAI because the underpass needed to go underneath the elevated road.
The project received approval from the Chief Minister’s office in July of the previous year. They planned to finish the two-way underpass by June this year,
but bad and constant rain made the work slower, and problems in securing funds also caused more delays, according to officials.
