Gurugram’s Affordable Housing : The government says that hundreds of people who bought homes in nine affordable housing projects should finally get their flats in the next three to four months. These buyers have been waiting for their homes because of problems like money issues and construction stopping. But now, it looks like there’s hope on the horizon for them

DTCP’s director general, TL Satyaprakash, has instructed city officials to work on solutions for homebuyers who bought flats in projects associated with Mahira Homes, Ocean Seven Buildtech (OSB), and Orris Infrastructure.

Additionally, a senior official mentioned that the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) and the Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (H-Rera) are collaborating under the state government’s guidance to find a solution. However, no further details were provided at this time.

This announcement follows the concerns of approximately 5,000 homebuyers who had put their money into Mahira Homes projects in different areas of the city, such as Sectors 63, 68, 95, 103, and 104. These buyers have been protesting because they haven’t received their flats as promised.

Back in July, the Enforcement Directorate conducted searches at various places connected to the company regarding financial transactions. Additionally, last year, H-Rera had ordered detailed financial audits for all five projects due to suspicions of irregularities in obtaining permits.

Likewise, people who bought homes in three OSB projects called Golf Heights in Sector 69, The Venetian in Sector 70, and Expressway Towers in Sector 109 have been urging authorities to take action against the developer. They say the developer hasn’t followed the rules in their licenses and hasn’t handed over the flats to the buyers as agreed.

There’s another project that’s at a standstill called Greenopolis in Sector 89. Orris Infrastructure initially partnered with another developer, Three C, to build 1,826 flats on a 37-acre piece of land back in 2011. However, the construction got halted before it was completed.

After many years of legal battles, Orris decided to finish the project. By April 2022, they completed the first three phases with H-Rera’s oversight. However, even though 12 years have passed since the project began, hundreds of homebuyers are still waiting for their flats.

In total, around 15,000 buyers are in the same situation.

On Sunday, DTCP director Satyaprakash mentioned that he can’t share more details about the solutions they’re planning right now.

He told the Federation of Apartment Owners Association that there’s a one-month deadline for a report that will provide more information on the technical and financial aspects.

A homebuyer expressed that if the government’s plan goes well, those who have invested their hard-earned money in these projects for years won’t need to continue protesting. They are hopeful that the government and higher authorities will make the right decisions promptly.
