Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar attended a Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) meeting where various key infrastructure projects were approved.
Infrastructure Development Along Central Peripheral Road
CM Khattar announced the approval of a collaborative project with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to construct a drain along the Central Peripheral Road, along with a culvert. The costs will be shared equally between the parties involved.
Master Water Supply Pipeline to Alleviate Water Scarcity
In a bid to address water scarcity in certain areas of Gurugram, GMDA will lay a master water supply pipeline stretching from the Basai water treatment plant. This pipeline will ensure a steady water supply to residents of Palam Vihar, sectors 22, 23, 23A, and adjoining regions along the Dwarka Expressway, particularly during the dry summer months.
Approval and Cost Breakdown
The proposal to install the master water supply pipeline, costing ₹125 crore, received approval during the GMDA meeting chaired by CM Khattar. This initiative aims to alleviate water shortages in the city’s tail-end regions.
Details of the Water Pipeline Project
GMDA’s Chief Executive Officer, PC Meena, shared that the proposed water pipeline will span 20 kilometers along the Dwarka Expressway, connecting several key sectors including 101, 104, 108, and more. This infrastructure expansion aims to tackle water scarcity issues and enhance the quality of life for residents.
Enhancing Rainwater Management
The GMDA meeting also gave the green light for the construction of a drain along the Central Peripheral Road. This collaborative effort with NHAI aims to enhance rainwater management during the monsoon season, effectively addressing flooding concerns.
Service Roads and Metro Project Progress
CM Khattar also announced the initiation of construction work for service roads along the Dwarka Expressway. Additionally, he provided updates on the upcoming Metro project, stating that tender allotment to a construction company is imminent.
Focus on Basic Necessities and Budget Approval
GMDA’s focus remains centered on improving essential infrastructure elements such as roads, water supply, stormwater drainage, and sewage systems. These projects are deemed essential to provide residents with basic necessities. All projects discussed in the meeting received approval, and efforts will be made to expedite their execution.
In addition to infrastructure initiatives, CM Khattar also granted approval for the GMDA budget, amounting to ₹2,574 crore, during the course of the meeting.
