A Vision Set in Motion: Project Unveiling and Delays
The journey of the Faridabad-Gurugram metro project embarked in 2015, initiated by CM Manohar Lal. With a finalized route and a meticulously prepared feasibility report, the Digital Project Report was also compiled. However, the metro’s transformation from paper to reality has yet to materialize. As the daily influx of commuters between these two bustling cities continues, the wait for efficient connectivity persists.
Promises and Aspirations: BJP’s Commitment
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has recurrently emphasized its intention to kickstart the Faridabad-Gurugram metro. CM Manohar Lal took to Twitter in 2014, announcing the project’s inception, and Union Minister of State Krishanpal Gurjar, the MP representing the Lok Sabha constituency, presented the DPR, confidently predicting a 2021 launch for the metro. However, despite these assurances, progress has yet to match expectations.
Bridging Commuter Challenges: Easing Daily Travels
The distance between Ballabhgarh and Gurugram witnesses the daily passage of around 25 buses, a mixture of roadways and authorized private transport. This underscores the pressing need for the metro’s realization. While the interim options serve a purpose, the potential of the metro to accommodate thousands and relieve the strain on transportation infrastructure remains unmatched.
Blueprint for Transformation: The Metro’s Envisaged Landscape
As a pivotal step towards materialization, the Union Ministry of Urban Development granted approval for the Gurugram Metro report, which includes a comprehensive DPR. The envisioned 30.38-kilometer elevated corridor from Faridabad to Gurugram will encompass a total of 7 stations, each strategically positioned to facilitate seamless travel. The Jewelry Corridor in Faridabad will link the existing station to Bata Chowk, and the route will ascend towards Gurugram’s Sector 45 metro station, meandering through hilly terrain. The list of stations takes form at Bata Chowk, Pyari Chowk, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg, Barkhal Enclave, Pali Chowk, Police Station Mangarh in Faridabad, while Gwal Pahari Sector 56, Sushant Lok, Sushant Lok Phase 3, Rosewood City, and Vatika Chowk stations are poised to grace Gurgaon’s landscape.
