Uncovering Unauthorized Construction: Department of Town and Country Planning Initiates Sealing Drive
In a significant move towards maintaining urban planning integrity, the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has embarked on a vigorous sealing drive, focusing its attention on seven licensed colonies in the Gurgaon region. The targeted colonies include DLF 1, 2, 3, and 4, along with Sushant Lok 1, 2, and 3. The crackdown comes as a response to the alarming proliferation of hundreds of unauthorized buildings and illegal commercial establishments within these areas.
Sealing Operation Commences in Sushant Lok 1: Unauthorized Commercial Establishments in the Spotlight
As part of the sealing drive, the enforcement wing of DTCP has taken swift action, sealing a total of 18 commercial establishments operating within residential properties in Sushant Lok 1. These businesses were allegedly running without proper authorization, a violation that the authorities are keen to address.
Ramping Up Enforcement: Notices Issued to Over 700 Property Owners
Under the direction of DTCP Director General TL Satyaprakash, Gurgaon district town planners have been mobilized to confront the issue of unauthorized construction and illicit commercial activities taking place in residential plots. A staggering 700 property owners have already been served with notices in the past fortnight. This intensified enforcement drive is set to continue until August 31, leaving no room for offenders to evade action.
Meticulous Planning and Collaborative Efforts
The DTCP has meticulously outlined a comprehensive sealing drive plan, which has been shared with the district administration. The proposal is currently awaiting approval from Deputy Commissioner Nishant Yadav. To facilitate the execution of the drive, the department has requested the appointment of duty magistrates, underscoring the collaborative approach being taken to address this issue.
From Show-Cause Notices to Restoration Orders: The Unyielding Path Ahead
The enforcement division of DTCP has formed multiple teams, issuing show-cause notices to approximately 350 new houses in DLF Phase 3, 4, Sushant Lok 2, and 3. This number is part of the over 700 show-cause notices that have been issued as of Wednesday. The process involves providing property owners with an opportunity for a hearing and a seven-day window to respond, as mandated by the Haryana Urban Development Act, 1975.
A Call for Compliance and Responsibility
Manish Yadav, the DTP (enforcement), has highlighted the nature of the unauthorized activities occurring in residential zones. While permissible commercial activities are allowed up to 25% of the property area, numerous property owners have been found to operate gyms, salons, clinics, restaurants, and shops without the requisite permissions. Urging proactive compliance, Yadav emphasized that no hearings will take place during the sealing drive.
